The methods described are typical of industry installations and may or may not apply to customer-specific installation requirements. Tape users should be aware that a tape wrap jacketing installation is a highly inefficient and costly harnessing solution. Although the tape materials are extremely versatile and appear inexpensive at the buyer level, the finished assembly cost will generally be high because tape wrapping is a very labor-intensive process. Furthermore, tape wrapping is a “craft sensitive” process and the finished installation can vary from installer to installer. Generally, tape wrapping should be limited to short run lengths, cable branch intersections and cable branch legs. To maximize harness assembly efficiency, long run sections of a cable harness should be jacketed using a wrap-around, zip-on jacket material with tape wrap areas kept to a minimum.

Tapes
You need to define what type of tape is being used and what the purpose of the tape wrap is. Is the material an adhesive-backed, elastic polymer film, a woven fabric or a metal foil? Is it intended to loosely hold a group of wires together so they all follow the same general direction or is it intended to constrict the wiring into the smallest possible bundle diameter and/or provide a secondary performance characteristic? There are specific tape types which are designed to provide additional performance characteristics to cables such as adding abrasion protection, improving dielectric insulation, providing thermal protection, providing EMI shielding or a combination of these. Knowing the intended use will dictate how much coverage is required, how many layers are required and how precise the installation technique needs to be.

Tape Quantity
The most common question customers ask is “how much tape will I need for my project”? This can be a difficult question to answer since no two installations are the same and some material types are thicker than others. Also, EMI and Thermal materials will require greater coverage to perform correctly. The table below provides a rough approximation of the tape length required to cover one linear foot of cable. The values shown are based on mathematical calculations using a 50% overlap, a straight run of cable and using a tape material thickness of zero. Wrapping a cable that has bends in it will increase the quantity of tape required per foot to maintain the 50% coverage. A good rule of thumb is to add 1/3 of the length/foot to all linear tape length values shown in Table 1. Do not fall into the trap of trying to use a wider tape on a small cable to minimize the footage of tape required. Using too wide a tape for the cable diameter will result in large wrinkles and open gap areas which can defeat the functional purpose of the tape as well as look bad cosmetically. Material widths shown in “Red” are generally considered too wide for use on the corresponding cabled diameter.

There are two broad categories of vinyl film. The first is Rigid (unplasticized, or “UPVC”). Flexible vinyl is softer and more pliable than Rigid vinyl. Therefore the uses for flexible vinyl include faux leather, notebooks/file folders, pouches, and similar products.

Take care to follow the standard industrial hygiene methods for applying sealants. Make sure to clean the surface and remove all traces of dust and grease.
If the sealant is applied to porous substances, Primer 150 should be used to prime the surface. It is recommended that a preliminary compatibility test be conducted before you proceed.
To enhance the adhesion properties on smooth surfaces, we advise you to use Soudal Surface Activator.
Use a caulking gun as the method of delivery for maximum impact.
As for backing material, we suggest the use of PE backer rods for correct joint dimensions.
Take care that during the application, the atmospheric temperature does not exceed room temperature conditions.
After application, clean the caulking gun with white spirit immediately. If the sealant cures, then it has to be mechanically removed by chipping it off.
Finish the applied sealant properly by using a soapy solution.

What are Thin Tiles?

Fused directly to the back of the lamina products with epoxy or other resin adhesives, the reinforced lamina tiles can be bent further and better resist breakage.

In CNC, material is removed from a solid block using a variety of cutting tools that rotate at high speed (thousands of RPM) to produce a part based on a CAD model. Both metals and plastics can be CNC machined.

CNC machined parts have high dimensional accuracy and tight tolerances. CNC is suitable for both high volume production and one-off jobs. In fact, CNC machining is currently the most cost-effective way of producing metal prototypes, even compared to 3D printing.
CNC offers great design flexibility, but certain design restrictions exist. These restrictions are related to the basic mechanics of the cutting process and are related mainly to tool geometry and tool access.

Tool geometry
Most common CNC cutting tools (end mill tools and drills) have a cylindrical shape and a limited cutting length.

As the material is removed from the workpiece, the geometry of the tool is transferred to the machined part. This means, for example, that the internal corners of a CNC part will always have a radius, no matter how small a cutting tool was used.

Tool access
To remove material, the cutting tool approaches the workpiece directly from above. Features that cannot be accessed this way, cannot be CNC machined.

There is an exception to this rule: undercuts. We will see how you can use undercuts in your designs in latter section.

A good design practice is to align all features of your model (holes, cavities, vertical walls etc) to one of the 6 main principal directions. See this rule as a recommendation and not a restriction though, as 5-axis CNC systems offer advanced workpiece holding capabilities.

Tool access is also an issue when machining features with large depth to width ratio. To reach the bottom of a deep cavity, for example, special tools with long shafts are required. This lowers the stiffness of the end effector, increasing the vibrations and lowering the achievable accuracy.

It is not uncommon for dental professionals to find themselves straining in awkward positions repeatedly throughout the day while delivering care to their patients. Unfortunately, this also puts practitioners at a high risk of musculoskeletal problems, including back pain, repetitive motion injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and more.

The solution to this pervasive challenge is ergonomics: the science of fitting the work to the worker, so the worker doesn’t need to strain to perform the work. Sounds straightforward, right? In dentistry, though, this often means rethinking the basic techniques dental professionals use every day when delivering patient care.
The clinician should always try to face the patient directly during treatment. To maintain a direct view into the oral cavity, ask the patient to turn their head as needed and use mirrors to improve visibility. Hold handpieces and instruments at roughly arm level and keep instruments within a 21-inch radius of the assistant to minimize the need to reach or turn. The overhead light should be positioned slightly behind and to one side of the clinician’s head to minimize shadows. Ideally, the patient will be in a supine position for clinical procedures; a contoured cervical support cushion can improve the patient’s tolerance for reclining.
