(yet will still
probably be misunderstood and argued about) - in order to generate some
conversation for the next few weeks I'm going to post 5 questions once per week
that are designed to be a little controversial - but hopefully in a good way
https://www.buffalofanstoreonline.com/Danny_Gare_T_shirt-6.
You are GM/owner/coach of the Sabres here - so what will you do? The only catch
is that in answering the question
https://www.buffalofanstoreonline.com/Riley_Sheahan_T_shirt-43,
we're going to assume the premise (i.e. you have to do what the question asks).I
think it will be most fun if people try to keep things realistic as possible -
despite the questions being entirely unrealistic - but to each their own.I've
done a poor job so far of framing these questions, hoping to keep it brief but
instead just opening loopholes for all you crafty GMs/coaches/owners. This week
the questions are going to be air-tight! I'm only doing 3 instead of 5 though,
to cut down on having to read my nonsense. So, without further ado - April 26th's
3 questions:1. You're GM - the owner has explained to you he's tired of losing
and wants real roster surgery. You must replace half of the players on the team
through either trades, promotions, or the draft.Only 10 total players on this
team can have played 25 or more games for the Sabres last year (i.e. the
2019-2020 season). Mitts, Ullmark, Lazar, Hutton, and Asplund all played at
least 25 games - if you're wondering. So you must develop a 20-player roster
with 12 forwards, 6 defenders, and 2 goalies - only ten of which are returning
players
Buffalo
Sabres Pillow Covers. How do you build your roster?2. You're a magic sports
genie (and Sabres fan) - you can undo one single move from Botts' tenure at the
helm of the Sabres, but you're only powerful enough to undo a non-ROR move.
Also, you're not powerful enough to make a move better, you can only eliminate
it.Therefore, you could undo the Skinner contract, but then you would have to
assume Skinner signed elsewhere - you couldn't magically convince Skinner to
sign for $8M
https://www.buffalofanstoreonline.com/Drake_Caggiula_Pillow_Cover-140.You
could undo the Montour trade, but you couldn't magically make the trade for
Montour only cost a 2nd rounder instead of a 1st
https://www.buffalofanstoreonline.com/Danny_Gare_Flag-133.You
could un-sign Hutton, but could not get him to sign for shorter term or at a
cheaper price. What move do you undo? (Bonus points if you lay out what Botts
could realistically have done instead)3. You're coach - You've learned the GM
has talked the owner out of the scenario described in #1, so there will actually
be no trades and the only new players on the team will be promotions from
within. But as part of the deal
https://www.buffalofanstoreonline.com/Dominik_Hasek_Face_Mask-138,
the GM promised that the lines would look totally different next year - and
that's on you now.The GM gives you the lineup below and indicates none of the
forwards can have the same line mates and none of the defenders can have the
same partners:Olofsson - Ike - ReinoSkinner - MarJo - KahunVesey - Lazar -
SimmondsZ - Lars - OkDahlin - MillerMontour - RistoMcCabe - JokerHow do you draw
up new lines and pairings (remember, you can promote but not trade for new
players)?
