For the past two decades, the NBA 2K series provided top-tier virtual basketball on an annual basis, and publisher 2K has no plans to stop anytime soon. In addition to PlayStation 5, NBA 2K21 is scheduled for release on Xbox Series X and all current-gen systems, including Google Stadia and Nintendo Switch, as well as Microsoft Windows. The visuals on display in NBA 2K21 are clearly a step up from NBA 2K20. The trailer stopped short of showing off actual gameplay footage, but the brief glimpse it gave of Zion Williamson's sweat-soaked visage was more than enough to showcase the power of next-generation hardware to raise the bar in terms of realistic visuals in sports games. The setting of the trailer, a sparse and dimly lit gymnasium, didn't give much away as to what players can expect in terms of gameplay or features compared to NBA 2K20.
